Dhadak is Janhvi’s debut Bollywood film and releases a few months after her mom Sridevi’s death. “I miss her today,” Janhvi said at the launch, adding that the megastar wanted her to work in a film like Sairat, reports news agency PTI.

Dhadak is a remake of Marathi National Award-winning film Sairat, which released in 2016.”I saw Sairat with mom at home and I remember telling her ‘I wish that this was my first film and I could do something like it’. Me and mom had this big discussion on how she wanted a role like this for me and then you (Karan Johar) called and it happened,” Janhvi said, PTI reported.

Finally, the much-awaited trailer of Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor’s Dhadak is out. Today, at the trailer launch, Janhvi said she is missing her mother Sridevi as she is not by her side. The star kid revealed that Sridevi wanted a film like Sairat to be her debut.

“I saw ‘Sairat’ with mom at home and I remember telling her ‘I wish that this was my first film and I could do something like it.’ Me and mom had this big discussion how even she wanted a role like this for me and then you (Karan) called and it happened, ” said Janhvi.

In her interview to Vogue, Janhvi revealed that Sridevi had watched about 25 minutes of her debut film Dhadak. Janhvi was quoted as saying, “She was very technical about it. The first thing she told me was the things I needed to improve — she felt the mascara was smudged and it really bothered her. The second half has to be different, she told me… ‘You can’t wear anything on your face.’ That’s all she told me, but she was happy.”
